About This Policy
This policy explains the cookies used on plascochsnowdonia.co.uk and how you can control them. It applies to our website and to the online booking pages we use to take reservations.
The website is run by Plas Coch Guest House, Plas Coch, High Street, Llanberis, Caernarfon LL55 4HB ("we", "us"). For how we handle your personal information more generally, see our Privacy Notice.
What cookies are and how we use them
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Some are needed for the site to work; others help us understand how visitors use it.
We use two kinds:
- Necessary cookies remember your cookie choices. They don’t need your consent and can’t be switched off in our cookie settings.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) tell us how many people visit, which pages they look at and how they found us. We use this to improve the site and to see which of our adverts lead to bookings. These cookies are only set if you choose to accept them.
We don’t use cookies to show you adverts on other websites, and we don’t sell any information collected by cookies.
The cookies we use
| Cookie | Set by | Type | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CookieControl | Us (Civic Cookie Control) | Necessary | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, so we don’t ask on every page | 90 days |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Analytics (only with consent) | Distinguishes one visitor from another, so we can count visitors without identifying you | 2 years |
| _ga_5B3WB9QM1V | Google Analytics | Analytics (only with consent) | Keeps track of your visit (for example, pages viewed in one session) | 2 years |
We use Google Analytics with Google Consent Mode. Until you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics stores nothing on your device and receives only basic, cookieless signals that can’t identify you.
Other content on our pages. Our home page shows our Instagram photos through a feed provided by Elfsight. To show the feed, your browser connects to Elfsight’s and Instagram’s servers, which can see your IP address and may store their own data on your device. We don’t control this; see Elfsight’s privacy policy and Instagram’s cookie policy.
Our booking pages
When you click Book Now, you move to booking pages run for us by freetobook, our booking system. These pages use their own cookies to process your reservation, such as remembering the room and dates you’ve chosen.
On those pages we also use Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking. These tell us when a visit to our website, or a click on one of our Google adverts, leads to a booking, so we can see which advertising is worth paying for. If you reached us from an advert on Google, Google uses a cookie to link that click to your booking for up to 24 hours.
For more on how freetobook handles data, see freetobook’s privacy policy.
Your choices
When you first visit our website, a cookie banner asks whether you’re happy for us to use analytics cookies. Necessary cookies are always on; analytics cookies stay off unless you accept them.
- To change your mind, click the cookie icon at the bottom left of any page and switch analytics cookies on or off. If you switch them off, we stop setting them; you can also delete any already stored through your browser settings.
- We ask again after 90 days, when your saved choice expires.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you refuse all cookies or only third-party ones. Blocking necessary cookies means we can’t remember your choices, and the banner will show each time you visit.
- To opt out of Google Analytics on every website, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Changes and contact
We’ll update this policy if we change the cookies we use, and change the date above. This policy was last updated on 5 November 2026.
